The Miami Seaquarium Continues Captivity Abuses!

The Miami Seaquarium Continues Captivity Abuses!

Lolita was exploited for over 50 years. She was deprived of freedom and subjected to foul fish food, a major crumbling prison tank disrepair such as toxic paint flaking and poor, unhealthy water quality.

Now the owners moved two of the three dolphin family to the problem plaque Shedd Aquarium. 40 year old Loki and her 5 year old son Elelo went to Shedd but the father Li’i remains alone.

Sadly, there is now one lonely dolphin left behind in this hell hole that should be demolish! After suffering from the loss of Lolita, the two dolphin companions are now gone! Why didn’t they move all three to Shedd or better yet to an ocean sanctuary?

One Shedd Aquarium example of their beluga abuses was when they captured 4 belugas from Churchill, Canada and 2 died within a short period following injections of anti-parasite medicine.

Note: The Lifeorce protest of the Vancouver Aquarium’s capture of 3 belugas in 1990 led to the Canadian government ending all further beluga captures.(See photo)

Will any cremation be done in a respectful manner?

The cremated body ashes of Lolita may be returned to her home waters for an ocean burial BUT the exploitation of Lolita could continue! Her body was trucked to University of Georgia for a necropsy that determined it was probably renal failure, cut into pieces and placed in 20 barrels. Why? Would they callously put Lolita’s skeleton on public display for profits?

Aquarium History Lies

More disrespectful History: Lolita’s companion, Hugo, died when only 14 year old in March, 1980. At the time, Seaquarium staff said his final resting place was a secret, “designed to keep souvenir hunters from walking off with pieces of the corpse”. But the truth was that Hugo was unceremoniously dumped into a Florida landfill.

Even the Vancouver Aquarium would probably send their dead captives to the local rendering plant but the orca, Hyak, who was only 23 years old was secretly dumped in local waters. A part of his body washed ashore.

Lolita’s Ceremony

If orcas (and people) have souls Lolita’s soul would continue to be a captive! The further exploitation of Lolita and others must not continue by these greedy, careless aquariums for profit industry! GIVE LOLITA THE FULL CEREMONIAL BURIAL IN HER HOME WATERS!
